It*really*bothered me how these new, so-called “writer VAs” are taking over the industry using AI and passing off generated content as their work. And for what, a few measly dollars.
I don’t want to be negative about technology cuz I love me some tech but man. I feel like these developments ruined the industry, truly.
So, I challenged myself.
I thought of other ways of getting coins besides remote work. I swore to focus more on ~ tangible~ thangs, something AI can’t touch.
That’s not to say I’ll stop taking remote jobs completely. The goal is to NOT be 100% depended on, what’s shaping up to be, an unstable industry at the moment.
The hubs and I have been meaning to build a new business for a while now and we decided on a fitness gym. Despite (physical) appearances (lol), we go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. Working out is one of the hobbies that we enjoy individually and as a couple.
If you know me, then you know that I always check the year’s prediction on my Chinese zodiac , which is the boar/pig, at the start of every year. According to the stars, this is one of my luckiest years to date.
It also said, I should be careful with my investments and avoid overspending, heh.
Too late for that, I guess!
Besides, there was an obvious lack of a better fitness center here in our little town and people deserve better options.

Finding the space for the gym was the hard part, really.
We were bent on this one space – it’s huge – but apart from being expensive, the owner wanted to cut a deal for a partnership. For a space that’s less accessible than others we’ve seen at that time, it wasn’t worth the risk so we passed on that.
Boy, am I glad we did.
Desperate, the hubs returned to this other space he checked out previously, and inquired again just to see if they changed the price. And they did, miraculously! It became affordable suddenly, but we had no time to feel confused.
We snatched that deal so fast.
We love the space because it’s near schools and the plaza. The building is also a local landmark, so the space it’s easy to find. Best part, no need to go up a flight of stairs to get to the gym (two gyms we frequented were on the third floor)

After securing the space, a flurry of activities followed. We had the entire place renovated, improved the wiring and gave it a fresh coat of paint. We had mirrors mounted on the entire length of the walls.
Once that’s done, we designed and created logo and sticker murals to liven the place up. The machines are scheduled to arrive two weeks from now (the space is good to go but our fitness instructor will join a competition overseas next week and we need him to set everything up so we gotta wait a little bit)

For now, this is what the space looks like. The yellow squares are the foam mats to protect the floors from the heavy gym equipment.
I spent the better part of the past two weeks talking to suppliers, planning the gym’s layout and designing the marketing materials. The hubs, on the other hand, took care of the paperwork and manning the suppliers/laborers to ensure everything goes exactly the way they should.
We are on the final stretch! At this point, we’re basically piecing everything together.
I gotta say, I love a good project and enjoyed piecing every element of this gym together with the husband. I can’t wait to see the final results. The next few weeks will be exciting, indeed!
