I do love reading and am proud of my little book collection. But to be honest with you, I haven’t actually sat down and read most of them. That’s right, it’s been over 10 years since I picked up a book to read.
Until recently.
I was having a bad week last week and self-soothed by scouring Netflix for some feel-good movies. Of course I zeroed in on rom-coms.
Of course.
I watched several movies and came across “Happiness for Beginners,” and gave it a try. I fell in love with the movie so I checked online for more infos about it. Many reviews say the book is even better so I bought the paperback version and dude, I literally read this in one sitting.
I like the movie’s vibe better than the book but the characters have more depth in the book, which is a given. The story is also richer, more nuanced.
It’s a good read, nothing too deep, just pure lighthearted comedic deliciousness. It’s not overly cheesy too and very clean. Honestly, I dislike explicit books, I prefer it PG-PG13 and just, kilig-inducing – but not toeing the line to cringe-inducing.
The hubs asked me what book I like to read next and was kind enough to get it for me. We ordered “What You Wish For” from the same author. I chose it because it’s sort of a sequel to this one.
Shall I start exploring more contemporary reads? I prefer classic English literature, thrillers, paranormal, and horror books. But dang, some of these new reads are real page turners.
