Rants and Raves

Part 1: Bought New Perfumes at FragranceX!

As promised, I will write a couple of posts related to my forays at perfume shopping online.

As you know, I’ve recently picked up a very expensive habit, an addiction in fact, of collecting perfumes. I was doing bits of researching online and found a freakin marketplace for original (authentic) yet affordable perfumes of all kinds, it’s FragranceX.

Y’all. I can’t tell you how many hours I spent just checking out the prices on designer perfumes at their website. It is crazy how affordable the perfumes were compared to local prices, I am just… floored.

Predictably, I ordered my first batch of perfume at the first few weeks of 2024, so this post is pretty long overdue. What I got, I probably mentioned before because I do sample perfumes first, I hardly ever blind buy because I get regular migraines and suffer from asthma also. I can’t afford to buy perfumes that make me sick – except for YSL Libre because that shit makes me feel like a princess.

On with the review!

Maison Margiela Replica in Bubble Bath

I loff clean, soapy scents because they make me feel super fresh. I love this one especially the initial spray! It smells creamy, comforting and surpringly, coconut-y! I first sampled this at my local Rustans and it’s one of the three perfumes I loved from the Replica range.

Bubble Bath is the perfect after-shower or pre-bedtime scent, guysth. The dry down leans too patchouli for my liking, unfortunately, but there’s still a hint of creamy florals thrown in there and is quite long lasting.

Narciso Rodriguez Ambrée

This one is my favorite in this batch and is my current signature scent. I know, I know, I talked about JM’s Poppy and Barley but after getting this, I prefer this one. In my journey to perfume colleting, I realized how much I love musky floral scents.

It’s fresh, bright, and it just lifts my mood, man. I wear this a lot when I go out with my friends or when I’m with the hubs on a date because it just cheers me up. Wear time is about 4 hours on me but I wish it lasted more.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria in Rosa Rossa

How beautiful is this bottle, amirite? It’s a freakin work of art. This was a blind buy but it’s a slam dunk!

I got this because when I was young, my mom said she loves rose scents so I wanted rose scents. This classic by Guerlain, which is one of the top perfumers in the world, has a lovely rose and peony notes brightened by fruity berries and citruses. It’s fresh, light, and soft.

I’d say this is perfectly blind buy safe even if you are a migraine or asthma sufferer like yours truly because the scent is super well blended, never screechy, never searing nor offensive.

The longevity is shit, lasting only 2 hours on me even if I overspray on my shirt, not on the skin. But it is worth it for me because it’s a delightful fragrance. I love wearing this when I’m out with my kids because it’s a fairly soft scent so it won’t overwhelm their sensitive noses.

Alrighty, this the first of the three batches of perfumes I bought from FragranceX. This is NOT A SPONSORED POST but I wish it was because I’m greedy and would like free perfumes from the platform please, hahahaha!
